During this S.T.E.P. wave, Iowa's police officers, deputy sheriff's, and state troopers will be delivering the message that "Seat Belt Tickets Save Lives", so click it or ticket, period!!! This period, in conjunction with other national traffic safety campaigns, represents another wave of Iowa's special Traffic Enforcement Program (sTEP) . The program, which aims to reduce life threatening traffic accidents, is funded by federal highway safety funds. Law Enforcement agencies use these funding to put extra officers on the streets for the sole purpose of enforcing traffic laws and reducing the likelihood of collisions. The current citation for not wearing a seatbelt is a scheduled fine of $127.50 Could you use $127.50 for something else? It only takes maybe 5 seconds to put your seatbelt on, and that 5 seconds could mean the difference between life and death. The life saved could be your own!!!
